COMMERCIALS:
And, which were the best and the worst of the $6.5 million per 30 second Super Bowl commercials this year? Did you have a favorite? According to CBS News:
“A panel of experts at the Kellogg School graded the ads on business-related metrics, such as whether the ad was memorable and unique as well as whether it tied into brand messaging.”
The best ads this year include Coinbase, whose striking ad featured a QR code floating across the screen, Kellogg said. The ad, which dangled a free $15 bitcoin giveaway, drove enough viewers to Coinbase to crash the site.”
Other top-ranked ads, based on Kellogg's panel assessment, included:
“Two commercials earned the worst grade, an "F," from the Kellogg School:”
Read the full CBS News article to see grades Kellogg School gave to all 66 Super Bowl commercials! The results for the USA Today Ad Meter had different winners and losers. Their results are based on votes placed by more than 100,000 viewers.
HALFTIME SHOW:

OPTION: CO-OPS -or- OBX…
JUNIORS & SENIORS
April 15 - June 3, 2022

Subject: Co-Op Internships Contacts!
Realistic Education and Authentic Learning Co-Ops is a hallmark of a GWCS education - this nine-week program (every Friday during the fourth quarter) allows GWCS high school juniors and seniors to actively participate in the world of work. Internships, job shadows, and volunteer positions are individually matched with our students according to their talents, interests, and skills.
Although we haven't been able to do them in recent years due to COVID, we are very excited to return to Co-Ops this spring for any Juniors and Seniors who would like to participate. Because we know that some offices are still not back to being fully in-person and may not be willing to take on an intern, this year Juniors and Seniors who are not able to find an internship may participate in OBX for credit. Unlike previous years, however, we are going to require students and their families to set up their internships individually but are happy to offer our community resources for possible contacts.
So - the ask:
If you have any professional contacts/companies/organizations who would be willing to have an intern every Friday from April 15th - June 3rd, please add them in the form linked below! I will be polling the Juniors and Seniors shortly to see what their interests are, but my hope is that if we have enough input from our community, it will be easy to connect them with an appropriate organization.
Link to form:
LINK TO INFO SHEET ON BOTH CO-OPS & OBX:
Note: 4th Quarter Experiential Learning Fridays at GWCS are mandatory and students do earn credit. The option offered this year is for juniors and seniors to choose between OBX and Co-Ops.
Thank you in advance for your help and support!
Warmly,
Maria

PALENTINE’S DAY RESULTS…
Thank you to all the students, parents, and staff who participated in the annual Palentine’s Day Celebration sponsored by Ms. Kohler’s Personal Finance Class.
Palentine's Day was a huge success! Parents, teachers, fellow peers sent very thoughtful personalized cards, roses, and candies to be delivered during 4th period. The gestures brought smiles to so many faces and made the very cold February day warm and bright here in GWCS! Shout out to Mr. Lindner, Alex Roach, and the PAC for their large contributions to the fundraiser! We raised over $250! This money is intended for our annual outdoor GWCS Palooza, where this year the students want a petting zoo!
