STUDENT OF THE WEEK...

The student of the week is EMILY SULLIVAN for representing the GWCS value of KINDNESS.

Emily is an active member of the school community who goes out of her way to make new students feel welcome and to support others, whether its as captain of the girl's basketball team, or by offering to drive students to see Brian Conner perform in Cymbeline (at the Madeira School, March 13th!).

Check out the 'Student of the Week' bulletin board near Mr. Pereira's classroom. Each week a student is recognized for his or her demonstration of one of the eight GWCS Values.

GWCS Values: Learning, Service, Kindness, Excellence, Responsibility, Investment, Team Play, Intellectual Curiosity

SGA IS COLLECTING YOUR UNWANTED TREASURES

Coming up on the 17th of March, the SGA will be hosting our annual St. Patty's Day Auction. We are asking for item donations for this auction. This a great opportunity to get rid of anything cluttering up your house or garage. Remember, one persons trash is another persons treasure. The auction will take place before the end of the school day, in the cafe. You can drop your items off in Mr. Pereira's classroom (#9). Students, remember to bring cash on the 17th so you can bid on some awesome items!  Love, Your Pinchy SGA

PAC PAW PRINTS...

PAC #1 - GWCS ONLINE AUCTION

ONLINE AUCTION ENDS WITH AMAZING OVER THE GOAL RESULTS!

Congratulations to our entire GWCS Community on the success of the PAC Online Auction!  We raised $18,062.50, well over our goal of $16,000!!!  Many thanks to all of our parents, families, staff and students for all of their donations and their bids.  We couldn't have done it without you!  This year's auction was a great example of what "community" means in our school, with all stakeholders coming together to raise money (and have fun!) for our school.

Auction items are available for pick up after school on Thursday and Friday, from 2:45 pm - 4:00 pm.  If you aren't able to pick up your item please email Deiadre at DeiadreRauch@me.com and make arrangements for pick up of your items.

Now, the fun will begin with all of the wonderful events and experiences offered at the auction! Look for details on what the funds raised will be utilized for coming soon!

And, by recording what you remove, you’ll be helping scientists, ecologists and environmental organizations in their efforts to improve our environment. Student efforts will count as community service hours. And Ms. Warden will be there to join the fun. An appreciation lunch and other free, fun events like hikes and campfire programs will take place after the workday. Please dress comfortably in clothing that you don't mind getting dirty in. Please wear closed shoes or boots that can withstand wetness.

INTRODUCING COED SOFTBALL AT GWCS...

Have you ever played softball or wanted to play softball? You are in luck! Come join our inaugural season with Coach Shumard and Coach Fedinatz.

WHO?

All GWCS students, including basketball players, are invited to join the GWCS coed softball team.  No experience necessary. Players must attend practices in order to play in games.

BRING?

You may be asking yourself what do I need to play softball? For practices: bring a softball glove, a water bottle, and a positive attitude!  Wear your regular gym clothes and tennis shoes.  For games, a softball shirt and helmet will be provided.  Tennis shoes can be worn; softball cleats would be preferred but not required.  More details will be provided later.  (If you don't have a softball glove for the first practices, it's not a deal breaker, come to practice.)

WHEN?

We will begin practice during our regular gym period at Audrey Moore RECenter beginning this Monday, March 7th.  Our initial practices will be inside the gym and the schedule will be:

  • Mondays at 8:00 am we will work on throwing and fielding.
  • Fridays at 8:00 am we will work on hitting and throwing

GAMES?

Our game schedule is not set yet but we should be able to play 8-10 games this season.  More details to come. Coach Shu and I are looking forward to a fun filled season!

Run hard, turn left,

Coach F.
