Next Week at GWCS... April 25 - May 3, 2015

STUDENT OF THE WEEK...

The Student of the Week is Wade Carter for demonstrating the value of EXCELLENCE. While playing softball in personal fitness, Wade pointed for the fences like Babe Ruth and then, just like Babe Ruth, he hit it out of the park on the next pitch.

Check out the 'Student of the Week' bulletin board near Mr. Pereira's classroom. Each week a student is recognized for his or her demonstration of one of the eight GWCS Values.

GWCS Values: Learning, Service, Kindness, Excellence, Responsibility, Investment, Team Play, Intellectual Curiosity

Here’s What:

I have internship envy! I am amazed at the incredible opportunities our students are having with their Friday internships. Holden built circuits and a mini Taser at BriarTek. Paul patrolled the bike trails at Great Fall National Park. Emily C. bottle fed lambs at Frying Pan Park. Joseph got to taste each of the dishes he created at The Winehouse. Kirk hung chrysalises at the Bug Zoo at the Smithsonian’s Natural History Museum. Ryan B. got to learn CAD.

Wowie wow wow!

Thanks so much to GWCS juniors, seniors, and Ryan Burns who go out into the world and represent the best of GWCS and who bring the best of the world back to us.

And of course thanks to Kristen Stombres, our internship coordinator!

Love,

Ms. W.

GWCS TAKES TO THE CLOUD

Convergence continues to move GWCS to the Cloud!   There are many steps in the process and we thank you for your patience as we make this huge transition!

GWCS Cloud Update:  As of April 24, 2015

All of the student and most of the staff's old GWCS email accounts have been merged with their new O365 accounts.  Everyone should be using O365 email exclusively at this point!  Next week we hope to download all of the Microsoft Office 365 software including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.  Over the next few weeks we will begin adapting some of the many resources O365 has to offer such as Calendars, OneDrive, Sites and Tasks.  For example, some of the teachers will be sharing O365 Class Calendars where they will list homework assignments in one location instead of through daily emails.
