Theme: Bunny Food
Spring has sprung! Let’s celebrate with your best veg-based food, fit for well… rabbits. Or alternatively, rabbit-themed. You could really take this theme creatively! We were thinking salads, seasonal vegetables, or even carrot cake? So many possibilities!
Any food that needs to be refrigerated can be placed in the student fridge, and anything else can be kept in Ms. Warden's office for safekeeping. We have microwaves and a large toaster oven for anything that needs to be reheated.
Warmly,
Ms. Warden

GOT MILK? WE NEED EMPTY GALLON JUGS…
Please :)
Planning is well underway as we gear up for our 2022 OBX (Out of the Box) Fourth Quarter Fridays! In preparation, we are asking for empty gallon milk jug donations for one of our many Coyote Day activities which focuses on GWCS School Values and involves building totem poles.
Donated milk jugs can be put in either the little kitchen next to Mr. Lindner’s classroom or in Ms. Kohler’s science lab. We would greatly appreciate the jugs being rinsed out before donating.
New to GWCS? Not sure what OBX is all about? Click Here.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING...
Every Friday During 4th Quarter!
OBX (Outside the Box Education) is an eight-week program that takes place every Friday during fourth quarter. This year, we’re opening it up to all students, rather than in previous years where it’s only been Freshmen and Sophomores. This year, students will be on and off-campus for collaborative and experiential learning activities.
Please do not schedule doctor appointments for Fridays during 4th Quarter. We have an exciting lineup of events for all of our Fridays. Watch for an email in April with more detailed information about all the OBX objectives as well as what to wear and what to bring!
Below is our tentative OBX schedule for Spring 2022 - all dates and activities are subject to change; some activities may be weather-dependent.
Updated 3.27.2022
April 15 - American Indian Museum
April 22 - Old Town Alexandria Walking Tour
April 29 - Planet Word Museum
May 6 - Coyote Day
May 13 - The Edge
May 20 - First Aid/CPR/AED
May 27 - Canoeing in Front Royal
June 3 - National Aquarium, Baltimore

ATTENTION SENIORS…
For your final months of high school, it will be very important for you to watch the WYNK for things that you will need to do to prepare for graduation and beyond. These first two items are an opportunity to reminisce.
#1 - Senior BABY/Childhood Photo
Due: 3.31.2022
Please email Ms. N-O a baby or early childhood photo of yourself by Thursday, March 31, 2022. These photos will be used on your senior page in the yearbook (example) and for another senior activity this spring. If you do not have (or can not create) a digital copy, bring Ms. N-O the original and she will scan and return it to you.
#2 - Senior Graduation Memory Boards
DUE: 5.25.2022
This is one of GWCS’ favorite traditions! Each senior family creates a Memory Board of photos and memorabilia to celebrate their senior. Spring Break would be a great time to get started on this fun project. Click the button below for detailed instructions and examples. Memory Boards are due on May 25, 2022 and will be hung in the main GWCS hallway for the last few weeks of school and be available to view on graduation day. This may seem a long ways away but, it’s not! It will take an effort and some time for you to collect all the photos, lettering, and other supplies you will need to create your Memory Board. Start today and have fun with this walk down memory lane.
FAIRFAX PARKS CLEANUP OPPORTUNITIES…
The events listed below will not be chaperoned by GWCS staff, but we thought i these might provide good opportunities for coyote families to find community service events close to home.
Email Received 3.12.2022 from The Nature Conservancy:
I’m Josh, a volunteer coordinator with The Nature Conservancy. We are partnering with county parks to do a wonderful watershed cleanup around 15 different Fairfax county parks! Registration for the annual Fairfax County Watershed Cleanup is now available at www.nature.org/fairfaxcleanup. We need nearly 500 volunteers to help clean up plastic bottles, cans and other debris. It’s a great way to give back to the community, and it’ll be a pretty fun day as well!
Event capacity is limited, and we request that you register individually or in family units. Before registering a large group of 10+ people, please double check that everyone in your group is committed and will attend. This prevents us from situations where one group takes half the available spaces and then cancels last-minute, and we have no one to fill in.
Please follow this link at www.nature.org/fairfaxcleanup and sign up.
