GWCS ONLINE EVENTS CALENDAR - UPDATED DAILY

Dear GWCS Community,

We are entering Week 3 of our GWCS Foundation Month of Giving. Currently we have received just over $6,700 toward our ambitious goal of $25,0000.

As you know, GWCS is an independent school and does not receive any government funding. Generous charitable gifts donated through the GWCS Foundation in this annual Month of Giving support the unique and extraordinary student activities outside of the traditional educational process. It’s important to note that this is the only fundraising event for the current school year, so your support is greatly appreciated.

The GW Community School Foundation is a philanthropic 501(c)(3) that now, with its updated mission, supports activities and programs that enhance and enrich the GWCS student experience. All donations are tax deductible and directly impact every student.

For this week, we’re focusing on our GWCS student community and their activities and clubs.

"Being able to do full-scale productions inspires my creativity. Higher quality productions help boost confidence and inspire people to join theatre, which bolsters our sense of community." – Dakota, GWCS Class of ‘24

"Sports management has allowed me to be part of the team without being on the court. I love this community." – Gray, GWCS Class of ‘24

I hope you and your student are creating lasting high school memories that are positive, affirming and uplifting. GWCS has given so much to all of us; now you have an opportunity to help by giving back through the GW Community School Foundation. Please share this email with family and friends who also support your student’s journey at GWCS.

Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the GWCS Foundation fundraiser. Thank you for your continued support of the GWCS student community!

  • Business/Corporate

  • Supply Chain

If you have a contact in any of the above sectors feel free to use our template email below and please be sure to attach our REAL Term Co-Op Flyer.

Hello,

I hope this email finds you well. My name is _______, and I am the parent of a student at GW Community School. I am writing to inquire about the possibility of hosting one of our high school students as an intern in your company weekly on Fridays this spring.

We run a program that offers our students the opportunity to explore different industries and gain real-world experience in areas of their interest. As part of this program, we are looking for local businesses who are willing to provide an internship opportunity to our students.

We believe that hosting an intern from our school would not only provide valuable experience for our student, but it would also benefit your company by allowing a fresh perspective and new ideas to be brought to the table.

The internship would begin on April 21, 2023, and end on June 9, 2023, and would take place on Fridays during the day (we would defer to your company for appropriate start and end times). During this time, the student will be able to observe and participate in the daily operations of your company, under the guidance of a supervisor or mentor.

If your company is interested in hosting an intern, please let us know by March 17, 2023. I've attached our flyer with more information about the program to this email and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for considering this request. We look forward to the opportunity to work with you and provide our students with valuable learning experiences.

Sincerely,

Donations for GWCS Snackalicious!

SNACKALICIOUS IS BACK!

Students need healthy "to go" snacks as they move through the day. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up if you are able. Thank you!

On Monday (any week you chose) bring or have your student deliver snacks of your choice.

Suggestions - Cheese and crackers, hummus and pita chips, guacamole (in single serve packages) and tortillas, bananas, cuties, clementines, grapes washed and cut into bunches, raisins, craisins - what's your fruit?

Additional dates will be added monthly.

FRESH VEG NEEDED…

ESPECIALLY KALE!

This is Tortellini, our resident Russian Tortoise.

He is a ferocious plant eater. Kale leaves quake in his presence.

We have three turtle friends: Grouchy and Sweetie (red-eared sliders), and Tortellini (Russian tortoise). They are all on a natural raw diet which mainly consists of fresh, leafy greens! If you have any veggies from home or want to purchase and donate food items - it is much appreciated! Please bring donations directly to Ms. Kohler in the lab. The below list are their favorite staples. Thank you for helping keep our beloved school pets well nourished!

  1. Kale

  2. Mustard greens

  3. Shredded carrots

  4. Yellow squash

  5. Zucchini
