GWCS Faculty Appreciation Week May 13-17
GWCS Faculty and Staff go above and beyond the call of duty from before the first day of school until after graduation to provide the best educational experience for our children. This is never clearer than the second semester.
In addition to individualized teaching and advising, faculty are organizing senior internships, taking underclassmen on OBX experiences, and organizing multi-day trips for students for academic and social enrichment. We invite everyone to join us in showing appreciation the week of May 13 – 17. Parents will soon receive an email with detailed signups for food contributions and volunteering, but we’d love to hear from you NOW so we can identify a core group of volunteers.
If you are able to help out that week, please contact Sharon Lin at sjchen27@cox.net. She’ll follow up with opportunities. We have different schedules and time commitments to meet your availability.
Thank you! Sharon Lin and Shannon Rudisill (shannonrudisill@gmail.com)
Here are our graduation volunteer committees so far:

Please do not schedule doctor appointments for Tuesdays during 4th Quarter. We have an exciting lineup of events for all of our Tuesdays. See below for more information!

OBX #4 – The Edge
Tuesday, May 7th, 2024
8:30 AM - 3:15 PM
NO GYM!
Destination: The Edge, George Mason Science and Technology Campus, 10900 University Boulevard, Manassas.
About: The Edge Team Development Course uses a variety of challenging activities that together can improve communication among students and heighten their sense of community. Through combining talents and competencies, communication, and sheer persistence, students collectively were able to surmount challenges that at first seemed improbable. There are many fun challenges offered to the group through the use of unique portable, as well as low and high challenge course initiatives, though all activities are “Challenge by Choice,” so any student who feels anxious, for example about climbing the tower at the end of the day, will be encouraged to participate in a meaningful team task on the ground (belaying the ropes).
Meet at GWCS: 8:30 am (Go directly to school - NO GYM)
Pickup at GWCS: 3:15 pm
Bring/Wear: Clothes to get dirty, sunscreen, comfortable clothes that can get wet, closed toed shoes, rain gear. We go rain or shine!
Lunch: Students should bring a bagged lunch and a water bottle. You cannot buy food there.
Transportation: Cars - Parents! We would love to have you join us! Please let me know if interested!
