Biography:

Jordana Eisen has loved art and making things for as long as she can remember.  Ms. Eisen grew up in Fairfax, VA and completed a Bachelors in Fine Arts with a concentration in Printmaking at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C.  (Across the street from the White House.)  Her Masters in Fine Arts in Painting, Drawing and Printmaking lead her to the beautiful Hudson Valley at the State University of New York in New Paltz.  Along with teaching art, Ms. Eisen is a practicing artist working primarily in printmaking, sewing, collage and bookart materials and processes.  Ms. Eisen is really excited for her first year at the GW Community School and thinks it will be a great year!

Courses Taught:

Studio Art:

In this Intro Art Class, students will gain a basic understanding of the elements of art:  line, color, shape, form, texture and value.  Students will also learn aboaut composition and perspective.  We will incorporate art history as relevant to each technique taught.

While learning traditional drawing skills, students will also have the opportunity once or twice a week to explore a variety of mediums such as printmaking, bookmaking, painting, ceramics and recycled and found art-inspired art.  At some points during the year students can use the curriculum in their other classes as inspiration in their artwork.

By the end of this course, students will feel more comfortable drawing and speaking about art.  Studenets will also have the opportunity to display their art for the rest of the school and their families.
