Outings
Iceland 2001
In addition to its Viking history and funny language, Iceland boasts some of the most unique landscapes on earth. It is located at the spot where the tectonic plates of America and Europe literally pull apart, creating some breathtaking scenery. In the Winter of 2001, we took a trip to Iceland, where we swam in natural hot springs, drove snowmobiles across a glacier, and enjoyed the hospitality of Reykjavik.
Costa Rica 2001
Costa Rica’s most fascinating feature is its microclimates. It offers an unprecedented variety of natural beauty: everything from volcanos to lush cloud-forests to golden-sand beaches. In the summer of 2001, fourteen students and three teachers visited the rainforests of Costa Rica for a two week eco-adventure. Highlights included a trip by boat to Tortuegero National Park, an excursion to Arenal Volcano, and a horseback ride through the Monteverde Reserve.
