Coyote Robotics Club - a non-profit 501(c)3 organization
Last Updated on Friday, 04 December 2009 12:58
I am happy to announce the formal organization of Coyote Robotics, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, soon to be incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
During our organizational meeting this past Tuesday we adopted By-Laws, the members elected a Board of Directors, and the board elected officers. The By-Laws define three levels of membership: Mentor (adult) members, Student (high school-aged) members, and Junior (younger that high school-aged) members. The Mentor and Student members elected a Board of Directors consisting of 3 Mentor members and 2 Student members. The board then elected three officers.
President and Director –Joseph Esposito
Vice-President and Director – Gary T. Lindner
Secretary-Treasurer and Director – Holly Gillcash (Callie’s mom)
Director – Genie Barton (Josh’s mom)
Director – Callie Askew
There is no cost to join and to be a member you only have to participate! We will be having activities outside of the normal robotics classes so parents, other students, and younger family members and friends may join.
Our next scheduled event is the Virginia Northern Regional Qualifying Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 19, at Oakton High School in Vienna, Virginia. Please plan on coming to watch up compete!
Students and parents, the best way to get close to the action is to serve as a volunteer (students will receive community service hours for volunteering.) You can follow this link to get more information and sign up to volunteer: http://www.vaftc.org/volunteers.html . No experience is needed for most positions.
We are also seeking contributions (tax-deductible!) and sponsors to help support our program. Wouldn’t your company want to have its name on our tee-shirts when we win the championship! Our program costs a lot of money to operate, over $5,000 already this year. We are happy to receive contributions of any size. Please help! You may contact any member of the Board of Directors to help (with contributions of time, equipment or funds) or may write to Coyote Robotics c/o GW Community School.
Thank you all for your support and we are looking forward to your future participation!
Gary T. Lindner, Vice-President, Coyote Robotics
