Class of 2010 College Acceptances Announced...
Last Updated on Friday, 14 May 2010 15:18
Congratulations to the GWCS graduating class of 2010 for an impressive list of college acceptances! A total of 45 different higher education institutions are included in this years acceptance list. These schools range from small, private, liberal arts colleges to large, public universities located all over the country. Many GW seniors received substantial scholarships ranging from $4,000 per year to an offer for a full-ride. Although these financial incentives were significant, it was admirable to watch our seniors and their families weigh all the different factors and choose the college that best suited the student. We also admire and congratulate our students who have decided to continue on to technical and computer trade schools instead of taking the traditional college path. At GW our desire is for each and every student to have the freedom, support and encouragement to discover the path that best suits their talents and interests. This desire is demonstrated by the diversity of decisions made by the graduating class of 2010.
The college application process can seem long and laborious but, as a small community, we are able to work together starting with developing a list of schools; writing essays on the writing retreat at Lake Anna; thoughtful letters of recommendation from teachers and; sumbission of all the necessary forms and paperwork. Finally, acceptances are in, decisions are made and it's time to celebrate! On May 16th GW seniors and a few teachers will head to the beach in Corolla, North Carolina for a week long celebration before the formal graduation ceremony on June 12th!
The GW senior and college info pages are a great resource for upcoming GW families as they start to evaluate which of the over 4,000 colleges in the United States they should consider. The 2010 Seniors page includes a list of colleges this year's graduates were accepted at. The College & Graduation Info page includes a longer list of colleges and universities where our students have been accepted in recent years. This list also includes links to the college websites for further exploration.
Once again... congratulations to the graduating class of 2010!
