GWCS Robotics Wins Qualifying Tournament in Norfolk!

FTC Robotics Teams 965 (Aluminum Falcon) and 3749 (Guilty Spark) formed the winning alliance at the FTC IMG_2523Eastern Virginia Qualifying Tournament yesterday at Norfolk State University, prevailing over 16 other teams from Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.  FTC Robotics Teams 965 (Aluminum Falcon) and 3749 (Guilty Spark) formed the winning alliance at the FTC Eastern Virginia Qualifying Tournament yesterday at Norfolk State University, prevailing over 16 other teams from Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.  Though short-handed due to many students’ previous travel plans over the long weekend, both teams travelled to Norfolk Friday evening in order to check-in at 7:30AM Saturday at NSU.

Robotics Team Qualifies for FTC Virginia Regional Championship!

Robotics 042Saturday, Jan. 22, two robotics teams from GW Community & Coyote Robotics competed in the FTC Northern Virginia Qualifier Tournament against 23 other teams from Virginia, West Virginia, and DC.  It was an exciting event due to its close proximity at nearby NVCC-Annandale.  A special thanks to all those students, parents and friends who came by to support us on the closest thing we have to a “home” field.

PB&J Sandwich Service

PB&JOn October 19, 2010, GW Community School held its first after-school peanut butter and jelly sandwich-making service of the school-year.   Throughout the school year students periodically stay after school and make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the homeless.  The students have a great time doing this activity as a group and the sandwiches go to a homeless center in Washington, DC.
