Academic Spotlight: WCWG with Goldie
What’s their secret? Dr. Pepper? Cheeseburgers?
PB&J Sandwich Service
On October 19, 2010, GW Community School held its first after-school peanut butter and jelly sandwich-making service of the school-year. Throughout the school year students periodically stay after school and make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the homeless. The students have a great time doing this activity as a group and the sandwiches go to a homeless center in Washington, DC.
GWCS Walks for the Homeless
The GW community traditionally participates in the annual Fannie Mae Help-the-Homeless-Walk-a-Thon. Due to conflicts with other school activities, GW could not walk this year. But not letting that stop them, they organized their own mini-homeless-walk-a-thon. The school raised $1,300 for the homeless and on October 15, almost the entire school donned their walk-a-thon t-shirts and walked to nearby King’s Park.
