Annual St. Patrick's day auction a huge success

The GWCS Community banded together this year to make our annual St. Patrick's Day Auction the most successful ever! With parents contributing big ticket items like week-long getaways to Maine and North Carolina, the SGA working to man an online silent auction, and with students willing to part with their hard-earned cash at our noisy auction, we managed to raise more funds than in the past three years combined! Students bid up unlikely items like fuzzy dice, a Star Wars cup cover, and a stuffed pig, resulting in an edge-of-the-seat experience. Funds will go to SGA events such as the senior beach trip and Prom.

We finished the qualifying rounds ranked 23 out of 39, which did not accurately reflect our team's performance. Nonetheless, the team had fun madly working to improve our robot and its program and get it to its matches on time and had an overall satisfying day.

College Visite Days Excite

GW juniors and a few seniors were not at school on February 2nd and 3rd because they were taking time to visit colleges all over the state and even out of state. GW sets aside two days every February so that students can spend time on college campuses when school is in session. Summer time may be a more convenient time for high school students to visit colleges - but to get the real flavor of campus life it's important to visit while school is in session.
