Student of the Week...Ben Foster

Student of the Week for this week is Ben Foster for demonstrating the values of INVESTMENT and RESPONSIBILITY. Ben takes advantage of many of our extracurricular opportunities: he’s a basketball player, a member of the robotics team, and attends the history movies every Friday. In addition, he brings his own interests to our community, and recently organized a group going to this year’s MAGfest Music and Gaming Convention this weekend. He does all this while maintaining great grades, turning work in ahead of schedule. He is always prepared to work with a good attitude.

Check out the "Student of the Week" bulletin board near Mr. Pereira's classroom. Each week a student is recognized for his or her demonstration of one of the eight GWCS Values.

GWCS Values: Learning, Service, Kindness, Excellence, Responsibility, Investment, Team Play, Intellectual Curiosity

HERE'S WHAT...

...You Need to Know About Midterms:

1. ATTENDANCE: All core classes have midterms. (Math, Science, History, English, Foreign Language) If student has an elective or study hall and no midterm, they are not required to be at school but parent must inform Ms. Mauney at least one day in advance. (See 'Quiet Room' below)

2. PICK-UP & DROP-OFF: To avoid interruptions, any students who are arriving for the second half of the day should arrive during lunch. Any students leaving early need to leave during lunch. Lunch is from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm.

3. BREAKFAST : PAC is providing breakfast snacks for students and staff to be eaten during advisory after the gym. Feel free to bring something from home as well.

4. EXTENDED TIME: Students who need additional time on an exam should report to Workaround on Tuesday/Wednesday or return to GWCS on Friday morning from 9:00 am – 11:30 am.

5. QUIET ROOM: A Quiet Room is assigned each period for students at school who do not have an exam. Students will not be allowed to hangout on the sofas in the cafe even if they promise to be quiet! All students will be in an exam room or the quiet room for the entire period.

6. BOOK: All students should bring a book to read. If students complete the exam early, they will be asked to sit quietly and read until the class is done. Students who do not have an exam but are at school will be asked to stay in the assigned quiet room and read silently.
