Activities
Community is so important to us that we made it our middle name. We believe that a community’s strength is shown by how well it connects with the world around it. Students at GW have the opportunity to connect with that world through internships, college cross-registration, school trips, and community service.Basketball
Basketball practice takes place at the Audrey Moore Recreation Center at Wakefield Park. Click on 'read more' for more information on coaches, players, and this year's schedule. Be sure to check the GWCS online calendar to keep track of imminent game dates and changes!
Robotics
Through participation in a variety of student competitions involving the development of special devices such as robots or roller-coasters, students will not only learn to apply their math and science in a hands-on manner but will learn to work together as a team. Leadership and communications skills along with hands-on building and tinkering and team competition make this both a fun course and a valuable one. Students will travel to compete in various competitions.
Student Government Association
The SGA organizes events for the students and runs the school store. Some events include Music Night, Movie Night, Holiday Events, Lost and Found Aution, and Video Game Competitions. Please check the school calendar for dates and times of events. We also operate the GWCS school store during lunch. Stop by for a drink or snack!
Community Service
GW Community School believes that students can make a difference by getting involved in the world around them. Helping the community also helps our students---it develops leadership qualities, shapes social awareness, and generates civic responsibility. Students volunteer in local, national, and international activities. The school organizes service projects in many areas of interest throughout the year, and it participates in the following volunteer projects on an ongoing basis...
Theatre
In the Theater Program at GWCS students not only develop their performance skills, they also gain confidence, learn to work as a team, and really take on an appreciation of the value of hard work. It's an all-around experience, offering opportunities for acting, directing, set design, costuming, and the technical work of the lighting, sound and backstage crews which bring performances to life.

A nine-week program (every Friday during the fourth quarter) that allows GWCS high school juniors and seniors to actively participate in the world of work. Internships, job shadows, and volunteer positions are individually matched with our students according to their talents, interests, and skills.
