STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION
The SGA organizes a variety of events for students and is in charge of the school store. The SGA officers feel that the positions they hold not only contribute to their own experience and growth, but also is a good channel to bring the student community closer together. The GWCS online calendar lists all upcoming SGA activities.

THEATRE
In the Theater Program at GWCS students not only develop their performance skills, they also gain confidence, learn to work as a team, and really take on an appreciation of the value of hard work. It's an all-around experience, offering opportunities for acting, directing, set design, costuming, and the technical work of the lighting, sound and backstage crews which bring performances to life.

ROBOTICS
Through participation in a variety of student competitions involving the development of special devices such as robots or roller-coasters, students will not only learn to apply their math and science in a hands-on manner but will learn to work together as a team. Leadership and communications skills along with hands-on building and tinkering and team competition make this both a fun course and a valuable one. Students will travel to compete in various competitions.   Visit the Robotics Website!

WGWR (GW RADIO BROADCASTS)
The students in Mr. Muntu's Recording Studio class have created an informative and entertaining show that students and parents alike can listen to.  Why use e-mails as your only way to know what's going on?  Why not listen to our very own students annouce the news?  Also featured on our radio show are shout-outs, holiday news coverage, interviews, events, GW sports nes, and more!

R.E.A.L. TERM INTERNSHIPS
A nine-week program (every Friday during the fourth quarter) that allows GWCS high school juniors and seniors to actively participate in the world of work.  Internships, job shaadows, and volunteer positions are individually matched with our students according to their talents, interests, and skills.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
GW Community School believes that students can make a difference by getting involved in the world around them. Helping the community also helps our students---it develops leadership qualities, shapes social awareness, and generates civic responsibility. Students volunteer in local, national, and international activities. The school organizes service projects in many areas of interest throughout the year, and it participates in the following volunteer projects on an ongoing basis:
Invasive Plant Removal, Kings Park, Springfield

SOCCER
Soccer is an extracurricular, coed club sport.  Practices are held after school at King's Park Park (weather permitting). This year we have two teams:  The Coyote All-Stars coached by Mr. Muntu and the Coyote Thunder coached by Mr. Torres.  These two teams will play intramural games against each other and on occassion will join forces to play other schools.
